Private study has been an important part of music education in Foxborough for more than 30 years. Music programs throughout Massachusetts, across the country, and around the world recognize private lessons as an integral part of a student’s musical education, and we strongly encourage all students to consider taking them.
The Foxborough Music Department maintains a list of independent professional musicians and educators from the Greater Boston and Providence areas who provide private instruction to Foxborough students. They include experienced educators, active performers, and specialists who bring extensive knowledge of their instruments and experience working individually with developing musicians. Many offer Foxborough students a reduced lesson rate, and some have taught students in our community for more than 30 years!
Private lessons supplement—not replace—in-school instruction and are not required for participation in band, chorus, or orchestra. They have no effect on students’ grades or ensemble participation. After an introduction has been made, families and instructors communicate directly regarding scheduling, payment, attendance expectations, and other lesson details.

Families interested in private lessons for their student should complete the
Private Lesson Interest Form. The Music Department will use the information provided to connect the family with an independent instructor who teaches the requested instrument when one is available.

Private lessons are the best way to receive the focused, individual attention needed to strengthen your skills and technique, build confidence, and help you contribute more positively to your ensemble. Bring your instrument, music, questions, and best effort each week, and make the most of the opportunity.

for you. Respect your instructor—and the commitment they are making to your growth—by arriving on time and prepared, practicing between lessons, and communicating promptly if you must be absent.
